Good afternoon!

My name is Roman, I'm a project manager in a large company called NovaPoshta (NovaGlobal, NovaAirline, NovaDigital, NovaPost), we have about 30,000 employees and millions of customers.
https://novaposhtaglobal.ua/en/
https://novaposhta.ua/eng/

I have a question about your product Jira Align.

There are a few questions we would like to have answered as soon as possible, as it is important for us to purchase licenses of this product and cooperate with you.

**Could you please answer these questions:

A) What is user integration in Jira Align, what does it mean in general?

B) How do we understand how many licenses we need (how many will be enough) of Jira ALign if we have 1200 licenses of Jira Cloud Premium?

C) We are using a program like Tability, maybe you have heard something about it? Could you please compare what is the difference and what is the difference between Jira Align and Tability ?

D) We are very interested in purchasing JIra Align, most likely we will buy licenses of this product, but we cannot buy without knowing and testing this product. Therefore, is it possible to get access to Jira ALign for at least a few days to see and test this product? Can you give us a short access to the Jira Align Demo?

E)
I am interested in the OKR function in Jira ALign and OKR in Tability. Do you know the difference, how these products differ, what are the goals ?

F) What is the global difference between Jira Align Standard and Jira Align Enterprise?

What is the global difference? Can you please tell me whether it is worth taking Jira Align?

Explain the difference between these items:
Epic Financials
Value Engineering
Visioning & Ideation
Personas
Lean Canvas
Enhancement Portal
Mind Maps
Program Meetings
Advanced Kanban
Transformation Management
Portolio & Epic Balancing
Portfolio Financials
Portfolio Meetings
Invest Horizons
Value Streams
Bottom-up Forecasting
Resource Management
Skills Management
Pro & Enterprise Reports Pack
Included Team Tool Connectors
Capabilities
Goals
Strategies
Products
Org Structures
Product Rooms
Portfolio Rooms
Strategy Rooms
Maturity Assessments
Results Trending

That's the difference between Jira Align Standard and Jira Align Enterprise, maybe someone can explain the difference in more detail?

I will be very grateful!

Have a great day!

Hi @Roman Mural

You have an excellent list of questions. The best way to get them answered is by connecting to a Jira Align sales expert direct, such as @Al Reid at Atlassian or @Alex Baldwin, who I work with at Praecipio.

Jira Align is unlike any other Atlassian product as it was built ass an enterprise platform from the top down. I was an early employee of AgileCraft, the company that built Jira Align. I've been implementing and using it for almost 8 years now.

It would be much easier for @Al Reid or @Alex Baldwin or myself to address these questions with you and your company.

Some basic answers:

  1. Jira Align integrates with Jira and MS ADO for roll-up of user data to create the insights from the metrics on progress, quality, flow of value, etc.
  2. . Jira Align is designed for use by leaders and managers, not individual contributors (as Jira is), therefore the licensing model is different.
    1. Assuming the data form all 1200 Jira users needed to be rolled-up in Jira Align, you would need 240 active licenses (for the leaders/managers/planners) which also includes 960 integrated user licenses for the team member data being rolled-up.
      1. 1 active license for a leader comes with 4 integrated licenses for the team member data they are managing (oversimplifying, but I hope it makes sense).
  3. I've never used Tability, but I did review the website.
    1. Jira Align will provide much better quality data, rollups, insights because it has multiple dimensions or hierarchies than any tool based on Jira.
      1. Jira has a single issue/work hierarchy, anything else is an attribute of those work items.
      2. Jira Align has multiple dimensions/hierarchies. The basic three are people, work, and time. Product and Objectives are two more dimensions in Jir Align.
    2. Based on what I read Tability won't provide 30% of the power of Jira Align, but Jira Align expects certain people, work, and time standards at the team level to get the insights from the rollup of the team-level data.
      1. you can't scale chaos or snowflakes.
  4. Regarding the demo, please reach out to any of us in this email so we can get you set up.
  5. Regarding Objectives with Key Results - Here is where you will see a major difference between Tability and Jira Align due to Jira Align having separate hierarchies/dimensions for people, work, time, product, objectives, and more vs Jira (and therefore Tability) with it's single issue/work hierarchy.
    1. To model OKrs in Jira or Tability requires modeling those objectives as an issues type in the issue/work hierarchy, and inserting that issues type(s) into the work hierarchy at one or more levels.
      1. CORRECTION BASED ON TABILITY DEMO: Tability doesn't suffer this drawback. Tability models and stores it's OKRs in their own data structure, not by inserting a level in the Jira issue hierarchy.
    2. In Jira Align, the objective hierarchy is separate from the work hierarchy, therefore the objectives in Align are much more flexible. They act as prisms through which to view progress of a body of work against results achieved.
      1. Due to the objective hierarchy being separate in Align, the same feature (Jira Epic) can be associated with multiple objectives without impacting the rollup of data.
  6. Your company needs Jira Align Enterprise given your scale. You can find a list of differences here - Jira Align Plans & Pricing | Atlassian
  7. This list is why you need to work directly with an experienced, qualified Jira Align expert.

Please feel free to reach out to me directly if you want additional support answering questions.

Thank you very much.

On this question Jira Align Plans & Pricing | Atlassian, I would like to go a little deeper into the difference between these licenses, because it's very superficial in comparison.

How can I write to them:  @Al Reid or @Alex Baldwin ?

Hi @Roman Mural .

Alex's email address is .

As I said (in different words), this is why self-learning on an enterprise platform like Align is vastly different than self-learning on an individual contributor tool like Jira.

You can also email me, and I can connect you with Alex, if you prefer.

Hi @Roman Mural

Quick follow up. I just met with Tability for a quick demo so I could better understand the product. It wins up Tability links/integrates to Jira, but isn't a plugin.

  • This is a huge plus, because it means Tability can leverage the power of the Jira data without being limited to the single work hierarchy in Jira.
    • You can tie a single Jira issue to multiple objectives in Tability for data rollup (like in Align) without running into counting the same things multiple times in other rollups.
  • The other Jira-related OKR solutions I've seen are plugins and insert the Objectives as levels above the Jira epic.
    • This means the only way to associate a specific Jira issue to multiple objectives is via parent child for the main relationship and links for the others.

Hopefully this made sense.

Tability does not provide the power and scale of Jira Align, but it does have more flexibility for the limited use cases it is designed for for the client market they appear to target.

  • It is not an apples to apples comparison, more like a
  • Magical, scalable 747 (Jira Align) to flexible small jet (Tability)

Peter

Hello, Peter.

Could you please tell me if you can answer this question in more detail with examples, because I don't quite understand this difference?
