The custom field Team (of data type Team) was created in our Jira Software instance by Portfolio for Jira. We have Jira Premium. The custom field Team is used in Advanced Roadmaps as a shared team. We use the Team field functionality in Jira projects to identify issue team assignment. Example, the shared team "Pineapple" has a board using the filter Team = 711 (the shared team ID for "Pineapple") in the Jira project shared with 10 other teams. The desired go forward plan is to continue using the Team field associated with the team board.
Can the LOCKED Team field of data type Team be used in Jira Align as the Jira Align team?
The answer is not a simple yes because of the way the Jira -> Jira Align integration works with projects and boards. However, there is an article about using a customer team field to filter the board in Jira. Check it out here: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-Align-articles/Sync-a-Jira-Board-with-Multiple-Team-Level-Projects-in-its/ba-p/1273974
The Jira Align help has best practices and information here: https://help.jiraalign.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001962513-10X-Jira-Integration-Best-Practices-and-FAQs
Also, check out this community page as it has a ton of great articles on the integration: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-Align-articles/Jira-Align-and-Jira-Integration-Best-Practices-and-FAQ-Table-of/ba-p/1253497
I do appreciate the references. Unfortunately Atlassian does not have a good path directly from Portfolio for Jira to Jira Align. The method suggested means creating yet another custom 'team' field, jira admin (rather than end users) creating their team names, and moving LOCKED Team data to 'team' field. This impacts ~120,000 records in our instance. :(
