it looks like I only have 1 kanban board available on my backlog in jira align. Can I create a separate custom kanban board specifically for my team to bring in all my backlog items?
I work for a Fortune 500 and our reporting team needs the one we have now but i need a separate custom one for my team. can i have 2 kanban boards in jira align?
In addition to what @Peter Jessen said, you might look a little further into the Process Step View. In that case, you can set up Development Value Streams that can be shared across many programs in Align. That allows you to have your own view of the work that's in each iteration.
You can map your team's states to Align states, and you can even synchronize them with Jira if your Align administrator sets up the appropriate mapping rules in the Jira connector administration. In the example below, we set up a separate value stream for a fictitious Personal Banking program, and we've added extra states in the flow. The new states (in the first column) map to Align states (in the second column) so everything can be rolled up consistently across the enterprise. This program can view the Process Step kanban and see things it's own way.
Hi @Julia_Mays,
Can you please provide a screenshot (or breadcrumb) of which kanban board in the Jira Align backlog you are referring to? The Backlog functionality in Align has 3 Kanban views - State View, Process Step View, and Column/Sprint View. None of these are custom kanbans.
Also, I am not sure what you mean by "Can I create a separate custom kanban board specifically for my team to bring in all my backlog items?" If a team has all of their Jira issues on a single board tied to a single program and the board has unique sprints tied to the issues, then the entire backlog will sync over to Align. If you are asking if you can have two kanban Jira boards map a single team to Align, the answer is no.
Regards,
Peter
