Hello Enterprise Community!
We know that many of you use and benefit from Marketplace apps. We also know that ensuring your data is protected is a top priority. As most Marketplace apps are built and managed by 3rd parties, you’re often making decisions about which apps you trust.
To help you protect your data while using Marketplace apps, we’ve made a number of recent improvements to give you more transparency and control over the apps in your cloud environment, and we’re excited to be adding to this list with an upcoming EAP for a new app access rule under data security policies.
What is the app access rule?
Data security policies help you keep your organization’s data secure by letting you govern how users, apps, and people outside of their organization can interact with content within Confluence spaces and Jira projects.
The new app access rule under data security policies (which you can follow here on our cloud roadmap) allows org admins to restrict access for all apps to content in the Confluence spaces under a given policy. In this way, you can benefit from the extended functionality apps provide while still limiting third-party access to spaces with more sensitive information.
This EAP will focus on allowing or blocking access for all apps in specific Confluence spaces under a given data security policy.
What else is planned for the app access rule?
Over the coming quarters, we plan to release additional functionality, like:
Allowing or blocking access for select apps to content within selected Confluence spaces (available with Atlassian Access only)
Allowing or blocking access for all apps to content within specific Jira projects
Allowing or blocking access for select apps to content within specific Jira projects (available with Atlassian Access only)
Who are we looking for?
The EAP will give early access to Confluence customers that:
are on the Cloud Enterprise plan or a Cloud Enterprise trial, and
have at least one Confluence Cloud app.
The EAP will be limited to only a few select customers that meet these criteria. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee a place for all customers who express interest in the EAP.
What’s involved in this?
We’ll give you access to the new rule and provide you with a space to leave feedback. We may also email you directly with questions about your experience, ask you to join a call to discuss your experience and expectations, or even ask you to participate in a 1 hour research session to test out improvements to the experience in some cases.
When does it start?
If you are selected to participate in the EAP, we’ll email you with details. If you do not receive an email, have no fear! You’ll have other opportunities to get early access as new products and features are added. Keep an eye out in the Community for future updates.
How do I sign up?
Please indicate your interest here and we’ll reach out if you are selected to participate. Again, unfortunately we cannot guarantee a place for all customers who express interest in the EAP.
Thanks so much in advance for your insight. I’m looking forward to shaping this feature with you.
Who is running the EAP?
The EAP will be led by me, Julia Daehne, Product Manager for Ecosystem.
