Platform releases

These changes establish a strong foundation for more extensive development in future releases. We’ve highlighted the biggest launches, but you can see the full details in the release notes.

Coming soon

Platform releases in the following products will be coming very soon:

  • Jira Software 10.0

  • Jira Service Management 10.0

  • Bamboo 10.0

Shipped

Check out the release notes, hyperlinked below, to learn about the new platform benefits available in the following Data Center products:

Long Term Support (LTS) releases

As many of you know, upgrading to an LTS release provides you with all the new features shipped since the last LTS, as well as continued access to critical security, stability, data integrity, and performance fixes for the two-year support window. We encourage you to upgrade to the LTS when it becomes available to stay secure and protect yourself from vulnerabilities.

The Confluence 9.2 LTS is coming soon! Powered by the upgraded platform, Confluence 9.2 is packed with benefits to strengthen security for growing enterprises. You’ll also find powerful features that accelerate team productivity and improvements to the admin experience, including dark theme! Learn more about Confluence 9.2 here.

*The support window for Confluence 7.19 LTS has been extended from October 31st 2024 to December 13 2024. Learn more about Atlassian’s support policies here.

Good news all around!

We usually start to plan our upgrades when a new LTS is released. We tend to avoid the ".0" release out of irrational fear, though. ;)

I'm a "light theme" person. But I have a few "dark theme" friends too.

Reading the list of new features highlighted in the article I became excited about Confluence's URL support for languages and special characters. Since Portuguese is our native language, this will allow us to have pretty URLs for everything. Currently, half of our pages have accents in their titles...

Thanks!

  1. Waiting for LTS for both Jira and Confluence before upgrading.
  2. Light theme, but the dark side is tempting :)
  3. Websudo allow lists.
  4. I wish there was more talk about data center at TEAM 24. On-prem still matters!

Are you planning your next Data Center upgrade now that some product Platform releases are available? Or are you waiting for more details on your products' next Long Term Support release?

We just upgraded to Jira 9.12.10, we will probably stay on this until we get closer to EoL for this version.  However, I am excited for dark mode when it's available to us!

  1. Waiting until the next LTS version for both Confluence and JIra before upgrading.
  2. I'm a fan of the light, but use dark mode almost everywhere else.
  3. S3 backup storage and S3 storage use in general.
  4. I'm happy to see some Data center love, but wish more Assets and Automation features would make it from Cloud to DC.

Accessibility improvements (including Dark Mode) are huge for us.  We have a significant user base that really requires these features and will be very happy for the improvements!

Security improvements are always extremely welcome, password encryption doubly so.

It was explicitly listed above, but any changes to make the administration of the various applications more consistent with each other will be a big help to us.

We will be waiting for LTS before we upgrade.

Hello from a 99% noob here :-)

I'm doing as much as possible in a dark tone, now helping my team to move from server to Data Center.

I think Open Search will be their first on the list to test.
