I've always noticed that Confluence (hosted not self hosted/local) is very slow loading pages here in the US. We have a decent internet connection and I only see this lag with Confluence.  Just going from page to page.

According to my experience there are two answers to this:

  1. Confluence Cloud is hosted on Amazon Web Services, and they experienced a major problem recently.
  2. Atlassian rolled out an update for Confluence Cloud which includes a collaborative editing plus a new sidebar among other things. This update made Confluence considerably slower, it takes around 10 seconds to load a page including the page tree completely (which for me as a heavy user is absolutely unacceptable).
