search by a contributor who is no longer authorized

Steve Herman October 17, 2019

I want to search for data that was contributed by an ex-employee, sadly the search by contributor only seems to work for current contributors. Is there a work-around?

thx, steve

A colleague of mine found a way:

You can go to "People". You will not find the contributor there, since he/she has no access anymore - suppose their email address is toto@xxx.com. Select anybody, let's say titi@xxx.com. You will access all their activity. Then, in the URL, replace the email address of this contributor with that of the one you need. So in my example, I am replacing https://documentation.xxx.com/display/~titi@xxx.com with https://documentation.xxx.com/display/~toto@xxx.com. And there you go.

@Steve Herman  you don't indicate whether you are on the cloud or server version of Confluence. Knowing that helps us answer your questions more accurately.

On our server Confluence contributor search works fine. However, the nice little "Contributor" box search does not work.

To search for a former user's contributions:

1. On the search screen, switch to the Advanced search.

2. Enter the search string Contributor = userid

@Doug Swartz didn't know what version I have. google search indicates i probably have server version since the URL is https://CompanyName.atlassian.net/wiki/

Tried the Contributor = userName but that doesn't seem to work.

You're on the cloud version. (atlassian.net is the domain) I'm sorry that I can't help you.

You might want to take a look at this page https://confluence.atlassian.com/confcloud/search-confluence-and-find-recent-pages-724765412.html It mentyions some changes in how you get to the advanced search capabilities.
