how to escape wiki markup for [{toc:exclude=This Page|Sub Pages}] when inserting as wiki markup

elonderin May 8, 2018

i have some boilerplate macros that i want to reuse when editing pages. this case involves the TOC macro which is to be displayed in a column on the right of the page.

this is the corresponding markup:

h3. This Page

{toc:exclude=This Page|Sub Pages}

h3. Sub Pages

{children}

i though i would be able to keep this mark up in the clip board manager ditto and just past it thru "insert markup" function.

however, while the macro editor is not complaining, on save the TOC markup gets broken at the  '|' and there seems to be no way to escape it, ie \| doesnt cut it and neither dies wrapping it in single or double quotes.

other venues i have tried:

  • my guess is that a user macro could wrap the the above 2 macros, alas i dont have rights for these.
  • also page include macro aint working.
