good vector graphics options for Confluence + Scroll PDF in Mac OS environment?

The lack of native import for SVG or any other vector-graphics format is really lame.

I looked at Gliffy but the text formatting is too limited for my purposes.

I've been using Google Draw but can't export PNG to a sufficiently high resolution.

This is a Mac shop, so Visio is out.

Tried InkScape, the X11 UI is a pain but if I export at 300 dpi it's OK.

Illustrator, I'd rather avoid Adobe if possible, their products keep getting buggier and harder to use.

Anything else to look at?

Updating this for the record: not long after I posted that, Google Draw increased the PNG output resolution, so I used that.
