Hi Team,

So as an update after working on this issue with Wei, turns out the issue is somehow related to the local browser as the @ mentions are cached locally on the browser.

So, in future if anyone sees this issue, try Ctrl+Shift+Del and delete all the browser data, or if you're confident, go to Developer Tools and clear the local storage.

  • Does the same occur no matter which user you attempt to mention?
  • Can you save the page without the mention?
  • Does this occur on other pages as well? 
  • What version of Confluence are you running?

Thank you. In your example, I assumed '张伟' to be the name you were mentioning, but it has 2 characters. In your last reply you said they're 1 character, but I'm not able to mention any users in my 6.6.0 instance with one character.

Could you try the recommendations from this article, however?


There is no exact solution to this problem until the problematic entry is found and sanitized directly in the database or after a reindex.

The reindex methods are:

  1. Re-index Confluence in the UI
  2. Rebuild Index from Scratch
  3. In the example above, the index issue was specific to an user so we can run in the UI:
    1. Open this URL in your browser: <Confluence-URL>/admin/force-upgrade.action

    2. Select *userIndexingUpgradeTask* in the Upgrade task to run from the dropdown list.

    3. Choose Force Upgrade.
