jbabaria@fisa-opa.nyc.gov February 13, 2020

/opt/app/data directory is created as /opt/ap/?p/data

[root@cttltest software]# ./atlassian-confluence-7.3.1-x64.bin

Select the folder where you would like Confluence 7.3.1 to be installed,
then click Next.
Where should Confluence 7.3.1 be installed?
[/opt/atlassian/confluence]
/opt/app/prod

Default location for Confluence data
[/var/atlassian/application-data/confluence]
/opt/app/prod/data
The home directory cannot be a sub-directory of the installation directory. Please use another location.

Hey there!

Given the following two paths that you might potentially use, it looks like you should be able to get the Confluence installer going:

  1. Install folder
    /opt/app/prod
  2. Home directory
    /opt/app/data

The error you got initially was because the folders can't be nested inside each other. Confluence has just those two primary directories to configure. In many cases, they're separate folders at the same level. For example:

/opt/atlassian/confluence-install
/opt/atlassian/confluence-home

Let me know if you have any other questions running the installer!
