Hello,
We have several groups that have been active for some time and are tied to page and space restrictions. Two of them were named using special characters, and this is causing an issue with some macros. Ideally we'd like to just change the names of these problem groups, but I was unable to find a way to do that. I'd like to avoid deleting them as we have a lot of spaces and pages that would have to be reassigned and that would eat up a decent chunk of time.
If I can't rename them, is there a way I can type them in that the macros can understand? The special character used is +. The show-if macro from the Visibility plugin is the main thing I need to get this working in.
Thanks,
Ashley
Unless we wanted to to some risky changes, the answer is no, so we just made the changes the hard way
Hello,
Changing group names in Jira doesn't have to be a hassle. With Group Master for Jira, it’s quick and easy! It just helps keep things organized with minimal effort.
If you need a hand, give it a try!

Hello,
I am unsure about Confluence, but in Jira there is an open Issue for that question:
https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-1391
Since it has not been solved in the last 9 years, it's unlikely that anything exists in Confluence to rename a group.
There is a workaround, but it's a) developed for Jira and b) not advised to do since it has risky DB updates in it. You better not do this in a production system:
https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRAKB/Renaming+groups
Maybe someone else knows more about the macros. Haven't used those, yet.
Cheers,
Ben
