change title changes the url

L October 15, 2014

I've noticed that at times  the URL for a page does not reflect the path, eg:domainname.com/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=5931276

Is there a way to clean up the url?

I'm running 5.4.4

When you use certain special characters you get that type of URL returned. So, you can clean up the URL by removing characters that cause it to flip modes.

On a side note every page also has a short URL given to it by Confluence that does not change even if the page title changes. These are handy of you want to embed the url into another system but are not certain if the page title will remain the same forever. Go to Tools -> Page properties. On that page is the Tiny Link.

Even a bit easier is to click on the "share" symbol on the top right of the page and then just copy the "share link". It is the same as the "tiny link" that David Studer mentioned.

It's now Advanced Details -> Page Information -> page of data including Tiny Link
