bad url in Confluence email notifications after changing to HTTPS

MikeA November 27, 2017

Hi, we recently updated our Confluence 5.10 instance to use HTTPS using the instructions in the link

https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/running-confluence-over-ssl-or-https-161203.html

Everything went fine except the urls in email notifications DO NOT redirect to port 8443 and cannot resolve

For example,

This is the url in a notification email sent after the change.  It doesn’t append 8443 too confluence.cs.com

https://confluence.cs.com/display/DEV/DevOps+Projects?src=mail&src.mail.timestamp=1511843198472&src.mail.notification=com.atlassian.confluence.plugins.share-page%3Ashare-page-notification&src.mail.recipient=8a6956d059c468f6015a0085ac870007&src.mail.action=view

If I add 8443 the url will resolve correctly

https://confluence.cs.com:8443/display/DEV/DevOps+Projects?src=mail&src.mail.timestamp=1511843198472&src.mail.notification=com.atlassian.confluence.plugins.share-page%3Ashare-page-notification&src.mail.recipient=8a6956d059c468f6015a0085ac870007&src.mail.action=view

I double-checked the instructions and nothing was mentioned about notifications.  Anyone else have this problem?

Also Confluence is redirecting http requests automatically to https but for some reason the email notification urls do not include 8443.

Thanks!

You changed the Base URL in general configuration, right?

MikeA November 28, 2017

I did - changed the base url from,

http://confluence.cs.com/

To:

https://confluence.cs.com/

based on,

  1. Change the Server Base URL to HTTPS. See the documentation on configuring the server base URL.
  2. Restart Confluence and access Confluence on https://<MY_BASE_URL>:8443/.

If you're expecting users to access Confluence using port 8443, you need to put that in your base url: https://confluence.cs.com:8443

Thanks Josh, after updating the base url to include port 8443 the issue is resolved!

Great! If you wouldn't mind marking the answer as Accepted I'd appreciate it.
