What is the user ${addon.name} doing in space permissions?

Hi community 👋,

I've recently migrated spaces from a Server and from a Data Center instance to Confluence Cloud. Now I'm seeing a "myterious" user in my permissions: "${addon.name}".

My questions:

  • Does anyone know, what this user does and if I can remove it without crashing functionality?
  • If I have to keep this user, does it really need space admin permissions?
  • (bonus question: Do apps - which are also present as users in the space permissions - need space admin permissions or is view/create sufficient?)

Thank you and kind regards,

Manja

Hi @Manja Vogel-Kautz,

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

No, you cannot remove those users, unless you have removed the app. If you remove the user that will affect the functionality of the app.

The level of permission needed is dependent on the app, when you first set up an app it usually tells you what permissions it needs and why. You can also contact the app vender to get that information.

Again, the level of permission an app is needing is depending on what the app is doing.
