Update Test Confluence with Delta change till today.

vivuu November 20, 2017

We have migrated our PROD setup of Confluence to Test environment and its working fine as expected. Here the data of Application directory and SQL DB were taken and restored are 30 days before.

Now we have to make the Test Confluence data to be updated till the date of today in PROD. How we can achieve this?

Please share us the all the possible ways.

  1. Stop the test confluence
  2. Drop the database tables
  3. Restore the database from a backup of production
  4. Synchronise the attachments from production
  5. Restart Test
  6. Re-index it

HI Nic,

Is there any other possible ways other than DB restore again ?

Can we make use of xml backup? or any other way to update with recent data.

What about the home directory? Do we need to again replace with the current one ?
Or only DB restore is required ?

You can use the xml export and import, but for a medium to large Confluence, it's probably going to be a lot faster with a database restore.

Your instance should be offline while you do the restoration.  You will need to copy over the home directory again after deleting the old one (except the config.xml file at the root, which tells Confluence where to find its database)

Thanks.

So how can verify that the exact data is restored it in the new instance? What veification activity we can check there ?

Because we may need to give the verification after QA to the management .

After replacing the home directory and doing reindex also , its not showing 3 days recent activities.

Check if the page count is the same as it is in production when you took the backup, and pick some large pages to compare to see if the data has been changed.
