Transfer Table Of Content hierarchy to left sidebar tree

Gregor Weis April 14, 2022

Hi Commmunity

i created a very extensive single confluence page with various heading levels resulting in a massive table of content tree. I now want to change that concept and migrate this hierarchy tree into the left sidebar tree. I really want to avoid creating now a massive number of child pages in that tree, basically replicating the TOC tree. Is there a way I can do this in bulk, would save me an immense amount of time.

Is that possible to do?

many thanks for your help

Hi @Gregor Weis ,

you'll first need to export the page to Word, then just re-import it. During the Document Import dialogue you can split the document's content to pages by header levels until h4.

What you'll get in the sidebar is something like

First heading (h1)
-first sub-heading (h2)
-second sub-heading (h2)
---first sub-sub-heading (h3)

Second heading (h2)
(tbc.)

Hope that helps!

Kind regards,

Nicolai

thanks Nicolai, this looks like the right solution indeed. I am getting some errors on the split of the headers displaying correctly, but i think the concept will work

much appreciated!

cheers
