Table does not have table properties

When I add a table to my confluence page it does not give me the properties/options that should show up when making a table. For example, when I insert a table it does not allow me to distribute columns or anything similar. 

It's almost like I'm not making a table but this is what happens when I go into the menu bar and press "insert table"

welcome tot he Atlassian community!

After adding a table in a page, if you click on it, a new dedicated menu will appear on the bar. Take a look to the following screenshot :
