Spam comments

Dmitriy Ivannikov November 17, 2020

Hello.

We have Confluence Server 6.15.10 installed.

Not so long ago, some bots began creating automatically generated anonymous page comments to one specified page. But:

  1. The comments area is hidden by custom CSS
  2. Page commenting is prohibited for anonymous commenting (only inline commenting is possible. When I turn it off, comments stop falling down. When inline comments are on, then these comments are like a steady stream).
  3. Our Confluence is hidden from the search engines with the robots.txt file.

We have tried to ban some malicious IPs. It didn't help.

What can be done else?

For anonymous users, deactivate commenting in the security settings for the relevant area
Set spam prevention to on in the administrator area

@repi thanks for your reply. It is preferable to let anonymous users leave inline comments, so we can gather some external feedback for our documentation. But if there is any other good solution for feedback gathering, we'd be glad to implement it.

Set spam prevention to on in the administrator area

I did it already.
