Hi Everyone,

So looking into what transfers doing a space migration via XML export (1) I am aware the following item is lost:

  • Users and groups

Using community I was able to discover that the following objects are impacted:

  • Watches
  • Mentions
  • User names for page creation
  • Usernames for page edits
  • Usernames for comments

Is there any other content that isn't transferred, ie space blueprints, calendars, app data (assuming the app is installed on both instances), look and feel configuration or anything else?

Best,

Clark

Hi @Clark Everson

As far as I remember from my Server days, app data are not transferred as apps are installed and billed per specific installation. I assume the mechanics of the process are similar to what's happening regarding users.

I did several space migrations from a server non-production (testing) instance to the production one (and the other way 'round) and had to set up set up apps setting per space in the target instance.

The same applies, based on my experience, to look and feel customizations. For example, our production spaces had customized 'skins' but we exported XML for our customers for the purpose of white labelling - so it had to be pure Confluence content.
