Confluence used to have an invite plugin (https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.atlassian.confluence.extra.invite) that permitted Space Admins to send invites to prospective users. It was discontinued as the "functionality is now built into Confluence". I see how Confluence admins can invite users, but is there really functionality to allow Space admins to invite? I can't find it.
I have investigated this a while ago, but AFAIK there is no way for space admins to use add users (or invite users).
I've replicated the same behaviour, only by adding a user to the Confluence Admins can I get the invite user function to appear.
The only work around I've found so far is to get an existing Confluence Admin to copy the invite link and give that to the Space Admin to pass on. Not quite the same though.
