Problem at Confluence install

Rumceisz May 2, 2012

Hi All,

I downloaded a 3.5.13 Confluence install. After finishing the installation I tried to start ("Open Browser" link) but when a new browser page shows up it says:

The requested URL could not be retrieved

While trying to retrieve the URL: http://8080.itsystems.de/confluence

The following error was encountered:

Unable to determine IP address from host name for 8080.itsystems.de

The dnsserver returned:

Name Error: The domain name does not exist.

This means that:

The cache was not able to resolve the hostname presented in the URL.
Check if the address is correct.

Your cache administrator is root.

What is the problem here?

Can you please suggest?

Thanks in advance!

Rumi

Hi Rumi,

The URL doesn't look right to me, I'd expect it to be something like:

http://itsystems.de:8080/confluence

i.e. 8080 would be the port number, not the hostname.

If the 8080.itsystems.de URL is incorrect and the itsystem.de:8080 URL works it's probably worth checking your Base URL in Browse -> Confluence Admin as the Base URL needs to be the URL that end users will use to access Confluence.

Hope that helps,

Andrew.
