Page created can be restricted to certain users?

Hi,

I have a case in Confluence:

let's say that I have 5 sections within a Confluence space and 100 users:

  • Page 1
  • Page 2
  • Page 3
  • Page 4
  • Page 5

-> Then all 100 users should have access to all 5 pages/sections. Now comes the question: How can I restrict certain users from the 100 - for example, 20 of them to only be able to create pages inside those 5 pages/section but not outside? If users want to create page 6 they shouldn't be able to do it.

Thanks,

Liviu

Hi @l.seplecan

You can achieve the goal by using a combination of permissions and restrictions.

Hi Liviu,

  1. Ensure all 100 users have View and Add Pages permissions in the Confluence space where the pages are located. This is the general permission that gives them access to the space.

  2. For Pages 1 to 5 :
    1. Grant Edit permissions to the 20 users who need to create subpages.
    2. Ensure the other 80 users have at least View permissions.
    3. Remove Edit permissions for other groups or users if needed.
  3. To prevent the 20 users from creating pages at the root level:

    1. In the space permissions for these 20 users (or their group), ensure that Add Pages permission is NOT granted.
    2. This will stop them from creating new root-level pages.
  4. Ensure Page Creation in Sections
    1. Since you still want the 20 users to create pages within Pages 1 to 5: The Edit restriction set in Step 2 will allow these users to create child pages only under Pages 1 to 5.

I hope this will solve your problem :)

Amar

Thanks Amar,

I'll try your case. The ones rendered before were without any success. I presume that Atlassian should enforce and expand the matter of permissions.
