Migration related questions

Alex September 27, 2019

Hi guys, I am mulling over a couple of options for our fresh startup, and one of them is a Confluence + Jira suite. So a couple of naive questions in this regard:

1. Is it (even) possible to migrate from Conflunce (and Jira) if things do not go as well as I expected (e.g. Atlassian hikes its prices at some stage in the future) to an alternative suite in the market (say Feng Office).

2. Is it possible to migrate from something like Feng Office to Confluence?

Many thanks!

Hi @Alex

Welcome to the Community :)

It depends what platforms you're migrating to/from - Confluence, like any platform, will have some unique tooling, so you'll need to consider how much replication you need versus new customisation.

Looking at import options for Confluence in this page it does state:

Importing content from another wiki

Confluence does not provide a method for importing content from another wiki.

You may be able to build your own import solution using our REST APIs, as mentioned below, or work with an Atlassian Solution Partner to develop a custom solution.

...but there are a set of alternatives on that page you can consider :)
