Hi,

Can someone possibly help me? My organization wants to understand the migration process for moving all BPMN/DMN flows from Signavio to Confluence/Draw.io.

1. What format should these files be from Signavio so that the BPMN diagram is converted correctly into Draw.io, (this includes all associated data)?

2. Is there a mass migration tool with Confidence/Draw.io for this function?

3. If there is no direct path to convert Signavio BPMN files to BPMN Confluence/Draw.io files then what is the interim conversion format that needs to happen before converting into the best format within Confluence/Draw.io for representing BPMN diagrams?

Thank you.

Hey Vickie, thank you for your post. There is no migration tool to move Signavio diagrams to draw.io. There are two paths that you can follow:

  1. You can export all of your Signavio files as Confluence-readable image files, such as high resolution pngs or jpgs. You can also export pdf files and attache them to the Confluence page, what enables you to set text links (but you are probably already aware of those options).
  2. I guess most of the BPMN/DMN flows you created are living documents that have to be adjusted from time to time. To make them a draw.io diagram, you unfortunately have to create them from scratch. To make live easier for you, go to the Format panel on the right hand side (make sure you have nothing selected, so the panel displays the global formatting options), select Background and upload a png or jpg of the process to your canvas. The cool thing about this option is that you can now draw on top of your process, the diagram is locked in the background. Once you are done, you can delete the background image.

Sincerely,
Bastian

Hi Bastian,

Thankyou for replying to my question.

Maybe you can help me with another work around, please?

I'm currently looking at downloading BPMN process maps from Signavio in svg format however when this is imported into Draw.io, I get a BPMN pic which is not editable. I'm working  with really complex and large BPMN process flows and I'm dreading having to redo them in Confluence/Draw.io which will take ages.

Any other suggestions from the community, please?

Hi Vickie. Unfortunately, there is currently no way to import Signavio data into draw.io in an editable form. What I can recommend is creating a feature request via Github (https://drawio.link/featurerequest) to ask for a migration script. But I have to say that building a mass migration script takes a lot of effort and of course has to be beneficial for a large set of users in return.

Sincerely,
Bastian
