Limit what Jira users have access to Confluence (on-prem)

Jeffrey Anderson February 2, 2021

I recently installed an on-prem version of Confluence. I chose the option to have it use the Jira User/Group database.

I have a 100 user license for Jira and a 10 user license for Confluence. I now have users who are not able to get into Confluence, getting the error "You have exceeded the user limit".

How do I set it up to allow only certain users to get into confluence?

In Confluence you can go to the Global permissions and remove the Jira groups that are providing access.  You can then create a group in Jira that will contain the 10 users you would like to have access and add that in the global permissions.
