It's almost 2022, where is Dark mode?

Asked in Confluence but it applies across the suite really, Dark mode is beyond standard now, products big and small offer it because who really wants to burn their users eyes out? Is there any plans to roll this out across Jira and Confluence?

It is almost 2023, but still no progress with Dark Mode.

The codebase for Confluence must be a total nightmare if they can't get this implemented in a reasonable time. Atlassian has been sitting on this feature request since at least 2018. Come on now! My OS and every application I use with the exception of confluence is dark and my eyes are burning... Send help.

Hi @Ed Leonard A dark mode for JIRA cloud is under consideration, refer this suggestion and this one for Confluence Cloud, I don't see any timelines yet on those, but will suggest you to Vote and Watch them for further updates. Alternatively you can read comments on this thread, where users were able to use a workaround by installing browser extensions.

Hi Kishan,

Thanks for the reply. Using Stylus extensions feels like a cheap get-out, forcing people into non-stock browsers and introduces a potential support stream to manage determining issues users might have and pondering if it's 3rd party styling issues etc.

I  don't understand what would need to be considered, you have a technical audience, probably the same technical audience who are the largest dark-mode users on the internet and it's likely these people could be damaged by prolonged use of your products (and others with such a high percentage of pure white as the base colour in the product). In such a case it would seem like a duty-of-care feature rather than the whims of some trendies.

Hi @Ed Leonard I can relate to what you are saying, as I am in the same boat as you :) Lets hope to hear back from someone from Atlassian Team on this thread.

Yes, fingers crossed someone with clout cares about the user.  🤞🏼

Funny how bad confluence product management is.

The dark mode has been requested by users since 2019, and still nothing.

Confluence is losing market share to apps like Notion, and no surprise. Do you know what Notion has? DARK MODE

Users that spend a lot of time in front of a screen like dark mode because it's better for the eyes, but why care...

What a joke.
