Is there a way to connect a user_name to a user_key or merge user_keys?

We switched from built-in authentication to Active Directory and at least one user shows up as "unknown user" in the "Created" and "Modified" lines on pages:

This seems to only be a problem for users that didn't use their AD username when they created an account in the old instance.

Before we have any ideas, which Confluence version you are at this point?

Based on that there are a few things we could try laugh (also get a test instance ready).

We're still running 5.7.4, but we're about to update our test instance to 8.5.x. So yes, we have a test instance. :-)
