Is "cut and paste an attached image to another page" supposed to create new attachment or not?

Benny Wijaya January 19, 2016

According to the 'Displaying an image attached to a different page' on the help link below,

https://confluence.atlassian.com/conf56/confluence-user-s-guide/creating-content/using-the-editor/displaying-images

Expected results:

It says that the pasted image will refer to its original source.

Actual results:

But, what happened in my Confluence 5.9.1, it does not refer to its original attachment, instead it created new attachment to the page i pasted it in.

Question:

Can anyone help me on this one?

If you take a look at the Confluence release notes for 5.9, you can see that this is an added feature:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/confluence-5-9-release-notes-785333580.html#Confluence5.9ReleaseNotes-Saygoodbyetounknownattachmentfails

It's just that the documentation has not yet been updated to reflect this (it says that it is version 5.6 after all).
