Is it possible to override macro formatting in a user macro

I would like to be able to override the default formatting of a macro - in certain pages (not the whole space/site)

I would have thought it should be possible to wrap up the macro in a user macro which updates the formatting - however I can't seem to make this work

If I use a macro like

  ## @noparams

  <span style="font-size: 22px">$body</span>

Then this works if I use it with text in it, but if I put another macro inside it (e.g. children display) then it doesn't

Any suggestions?
