How to pull data from existing database and make available upon demand?

Jon Chamberlin September 26, 2016

At a previous employer, we used Confluence and outside users could connect and view an inventory file on demand that we created using third party inventory tracking software.  I'm not exactly sure how this was accomplished but it allowed users to see snap shots of Government inventory in a live format without giving them access to the tracking software directly.  Is this possible?

No, Cloud data is only available via the UI and REST interfaces.  You might have been using a "Connect" add-on to pull data over REST from the cloud Confluence though - it would still need access, but it could do it without taking up more than one user licence.

Like Nic said, the correct way to solve this problem in Confluence Cloud is to write an Atlassian Connect add-on that extends Confluence to give it this functionality: http://connect.atlassian.com/
