I have uploaded files and followed the directions of downloading Atlassian Companion, but I still don't have the option to edit documents within Confluence. What can I do do be able to edit documents in Confluence
Hi @lveyon5 welcome to the Atlassian community.

Hello @lveyon5
Welcome to the community.
Your post is tagged to indicate that you are using Confluence Cloud. Are you actually using Confluence Cloud? Is your URL similar to...?
https://something.atlassian.net
If so, then the Atlassian Companion app does not apply to you. It is supported only for Server/Data Center (self-hosted) instances of Confluence, as per the documentation.

Since the atlassian companion app doesn't apply, what am I able to do in order to collaborate through Confluence?

If the files are MS Office files then you can use the Office Connector.
