How to create a link with {expand} in sidebar?

Caleb Green August 4, 2017

Hi. I'm new to Confluence and looking for help with the sidebar, specifically the {expand} feature.

Presently I use {expand:Departments} to create a dropdown of different spaces like - [AB:], etc.

Right now "Departments" is only text, though, not a link. Is there a way to convert it?

If I plug in a space key or other type of link, it just becomes the flat text.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi Caleb,

You can use Confluence Wiki Markup to link to a page.

For example, here's what I did to get a link to work in the Expand Macro:

Note, you don't see that I've done this, but you have to put {expand} after the links you list.

And you can see the result here:

It will not look like a link until you get out of the Space Tools section and go back to the main space page, but it does work effectively.

Let us know if you have any trouble!

Kind Regards,
Shannon
