How does confluence send emails ?

fbeck_br July 1, 2015

I have an exchange server police that reject email larger than 50 destinations.

If I share a page to confluence-users I will reach almost 2000 destinations...

How confluence send those emails ?

1 email with 1900 destinations ?

or 1900 emails with 1 destination each one?

In the first case, the email will be rejected by SMTP server.

thanks.

Hi Flavio,

Actually, is not Confluence which send the emails, but your Exchange server. Confluence just do relay on Exchange.

If you share a page with 2000 users, than Confluence should send 2000 emails with 1 destination each one, since each destination should be different. However, pay attention if these destinations are from same domain, because this might easily marked as spam or just rejected.
