How do you continue a numbered list in the on-demand Confluence?

RobertC July 23, 2014

If I start a numbered list, then use substeps or some other paragraph, the step number starts over at 1. This is reminiscent of Word behavior, where, at least you have the continue numbering option. How do I do this in Confluence on the on-demand instance?

I see how this works now, even with hierarchical steps. It just takes a bit of getting used to.

Hi Robert,

have you tried to insert all your numbered list items first, and afterwards insert your images after the wanted steps (just press enter to insert a new line and press backspace to delete the number)? That should so the trick.

Cheers,
Nils

How would I do hierarchical step autonumbering? For example:

1. This is step 1

a. This is step 1a

b. This is step 1b

i. This is step 1bi

ii. This is step 1bii

c. This is step c

2. This is step 2.

Robert,

To do this you have to start you numbering and use Ctrl+Return to add an un-numbered line. You can do this as many times as needed.

When you next press retun only, the numbering will re-start.

Cheers.

For me, its Shift+Return to add an unnumbered line.
