I'm trying to set up templates for regular blog posts. We use Confluence as business group intranet and use the blog to publish and then use labels to filter content for users on the space home page.
I set up a whole lot of templates this morning, only to discover these create new *pages* not new blog posts. I haven't been able to find guidance in the Knowledge Space anywhere - I've been using Confluence for close to a year and have been able to self teach up until now...
Any help gratefully accepted!
TIA
Hi Ellen -
Confluence does not support blog templates as they do for pages and it appears this functionality is not on the foreseeable road map - see https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONFSERVER-4174
There are applications (plugins) that can handle this for you such as one by bitvoodoo: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1217068/templates-for-blog-posts-for-confluence?hosting=server&tab=overview
Hope that helps.

Why is Atlassian selling the idea of "blog templates" if they don't exist? https://www.atlassian.com/blog/confluence/confluence-for-blogging

I haven´t had a deep read through of your reference @Kim Wallace . But I see that one can actually use which ever template for a page you want, and then choose to publish said page as a blog post.
When in edit mode, click on three dots menu top right corner (same as where you would add a label). One of top options in menu that appears is to publish as a blog.
So, even though blog templates directly is not supported, at least you could create standard template @Ellen Cox and publish that as a blog.

@ihe thanks, I am not following how the three dots menu appears for you in edit mode.
When I am in edit mode on a page the three dots menu disappears.
I also cannot add labels from there; my option to add labels is the icon in the bottom right corner of the page (or by pressing 'l') or thru our label manager add-in.
Perhaps we are using different versions - our installation is on-premise, v7.4.8.

@Ed Gaile _Atlanta_ GA_ can the tags for this post need to be fixed, because they include "confluence-server" which does not apply
