How can a page reuse the value of a space variant?

Jason_Zhu February 11, 2020

I was looking for where to define a space variable so that I can include its value in a page. Ideally I can use a global or space variable to predefine certain value (string or number) so that changing it will update all pages include such variable.

Confluence does not seem to support such thing. Next option is to use "Excerpt" which is a selection of text (either inline or block style) that can be used in at least 2 situations:

* A page tree can display such excerpt.
* A page can include excerpt (like using a variable)

However, there is limitation.
* One page can only have one "Excerpt" to define and to be reused by other pages.
* It mixed the concept of "excerption" and "varaible".

Any idea, approach, or solution?

I’m able to do this using the Comala Document Management plugin and creating a workflow with a worflowparameter macro. Requires Space Admin permissions or must be assigned an administrator able to create workflows.

It does not seem enabled on company site. But thanks for the answer. I will work with admin to try this approach.

Great appreciation!
