I don't want the google doc to be embedded within the page, I would like the actual content of the google doc to be imported onto a confluence page (while changes made to the google drive doc will be automatically reflected on the confluence page). Is that possible?

If you want the Confluence page to reflect the contents of the Google Doc you would either need to embed the Google Doc onto the Confluence page or have some kind of job that would periodically update the Confluence page on a certain schedule.

You could for instance export the doc as a PDF/DOCX/XLSX/PPTX (depending upon doc type) format, upload the document to the page as an attachment, and use the PDF/Word/Excel/PowerPoint macro to show the content of the attachment. And then have a process to periodically export the Google doc and upload it to the page.
