I have a legacy document that I'm using in the updated editor. I've been able to update the TOC macro so I see my paragraph numbers there, but these numbers do not show up in the document body next to the actual headings.
In the previous editor, I had a small button that would toggle paragraph numbers on and off. I have no similar button in this editor.
Would be truly grateful for any help. I don't have a development background, so I'm hoping there's a solution the tool as opposed to needing something third-party. My document is basically useless until I can get this resolved.
You can consider alternative solutions for automatic numbered heading for Confluence Cloud from Atlassian Marketplace.
A few of them:
- Numbered Headings for Confluence
- Content Formatting Macros for Confluence
The last one allows adding other useful macros for content formatting: tabs, buttons, tooltips, footnotes, background (for visual improvements), cards, etc. My team created it, so I'd be happy to assist if you need help.
Hi @Scott McDevitt and welcome to the community,
Unfortunately there isn't a way to have numbered heading on Confluence, out of the box. Similar post here https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Confluence-questions/Show-Display-Section-Numbers-with-Headings/qaq-p/1386104

This isn't a new document. It's a legacy document that has always had numbered headings in the body, and I have somehow lost them going to this new editor. I'll investigate this Numbered Headings app, but this is so disappointing. My entire change history for this document references the paragraph numbers where the change was made in the body, and now I don't have those.
