Exporting and importing

AyJay March 7, 2013

Is it possible to export pages from one space (just a subset) and then import those pages into a different server and/or space?

Hi AyJay,

Yes it is!

  1. Create a new temporary space in your source instance
  2. Move all pages you want to move to the other server into this temporary space
  3. Export this temporary space (Space Admin/Advanced/Export XML)
  4. On the destination server you import the temporary space
  5. Confluence Admin/Backup & Restore
  6. Upload the XML export file and restore it
  7. Move the pages from the temporary space to their new location
  8. Delete the temporary space on both instances
  9. Voilá!

Best regards,

Sorry, I should have been clearer: I only want to copy the pages.

And I only want to copy parts of the space, not the entire space.

Also; I want to copy into an existing space. But that could probably be solved by creating a space on the target, and then moving pages from that space to the actual space.

Thanks. That should work close enough.

In that case the easiest way, IMO, is to export the entire space according to the description above. After it has been restored you can remove the pages not wanted in the new instance.

Another option is a new plugin that you can find on marketplace:

Copy Pages To New Space

It is not free but it does what you ask for. Haven't tried it myself.

Confluence Command Line Interface has copyPage action which supports the targetServer parameter.
