Experience with multiple confluence instances running on one server

Gerhard July 14, 2017

Hi,

From what I read in the documentation and the forum it is possible to run multiple confluence instances on one server. Can anyone tell me from her/his own experience the pros, cons, other notes...

Thank You for Info

Gerry

It is definitely possible. I think there are two or three  main things to consider.

  1. The server should have enough resources (memory, CPU etc) to handle to load from two Confluence instances
  2. You need to have proper backups, disaster recovery etc. Be aware that both the instances goes down if the server goes down. And you are in crisis mode if the server can't be brought back immediately.
  3. Someone with access to the server has access to both instances. If you are working on secure instances, that is a no-no!
