×I'm using the excerpt macro to roll child page summaries up to an index page.
When I change a child page name, the inserted excerpt on the parent page breaks. The excerpt is keyed off the page name, not its permalink, so the insert can't find its excerpt any more.
The same thing happens if I change the excerpt name: inserted excerpts break.
This means if I change a page name, or change an excerpt name, I have to update all instances where I've inserted that instance. But my names are based on things outside Confluence and can change.
Is this expected behaviour? I would prefer a more robust solution where changing a property of a thing doesn't break references to it.
Hi @Ashley ,
Unfortunately, this is expected when it comes to Excerpt macro. Here's one feature suggestion related to include excerpt not breaking when excerpt name changes: CONFCLOUD-79140: Respective 'Include Excerpt' should not break when the 'Excerpt' macro's name changes
I would suggesting voting and commenting on this particular suggestion (you could also mention that the macro breaks in case page name also changes).
Probably not the answer you hoped for, but, hopefully, this will be 'fixed' soon.
Cheers,
Tobi
Thanks for the info! Hopefully it sees some love.
