Display Jira-task statuses on the JSM portal

Margo Verameyenka January 21, 2025

Hello Atlassian connoisseurs!

Is there any possibility to display statuses from a linked task (Issue Links) in Jira on the portal?

I need that statuses from issue link (relates to) to be displayed on customer request task (like as screen).

Hi @Margo Verameyenka ,

You can also have a look at our app: Advanced Portal Reports.

It will allow you to show Linked issues (or any other standard or custom Jira field) on the Customer view in the portal.

Additionally, it also provides your customers (portal users) with a table report where they can see, search, filter and export all their Jira Service Management tickets, including many additional details (incl. Linked issues, SLAs, custom fields, etc.), with a very simple UI.

Greetings,

Elitsa

Hi @Margo Verameyenka ,

Lotje here from Refined.

As Pavel mentioned: our Refined app helps you to achieve this: you can build support sites that are fully customizable with our Refined for JSM app.

One of our modules is called: "My JSM requests" and allows the customer to see their current open tickets. You can place this module on any page of your support site, that puts a UI layer on top of your current JSM portal.

If you'd like to see more of how this would work for your instance, you can watch one of our demo videos for Data Center here.

Happy to answer any questions you may have!

Kind regards,
Lotje

Hi Margo,

Yes, it is possible to display statuses on the Jira Service Management (JSM) portal. However, this feature is not natively supported out of the box, so you'll need to use some custom configurations or third-party add-ons to achieve it.

Here are some approaches to consider:

1. Using Custom Fields to Display Status

  • Create a custom field (e.g., "Status Display").
  • Use an automation rule or a workflow post function to update this custom field with the issue's status.
  • Add the custom field to the Request Type form and configure it to display on the JSM portal.

Steps:

  1. Go to SettingsIssuesCustom Fields, and create a new field.
  2. Use Jira Automation to update the field:
    • Trigger: Issue status changes.
    • Action: Update the custom field with the new status.
  3. Add the field to the desired Request Types in the Portal Settings.

2. Use Add-ons from Atlassian Marketplace

Several add-ons allow for more advanced customization of the JSM portal, including displaying statuses. For example:

  • Extension for Jira Service Management: Adds extra features, including displaying statuses and additional fields.
  • Refined for Jira: Allows you to customize the JSM portal and display statuses visually.
  • Dynamic Forms or similar plugins to dynamically show issue status.

Thanks for your answer!
Maybe it can be done through scriptrunner?
