Decision Log Numbering

Josiah Knowles April 3, 2019

The decision log is becoming very large. We believe it would helpful to order the decisions by numbers so that one could easily scroll to the decision number they are after. This could be done by adding a number field to the table that aggregates into being shown on the decision log, but the difficulty is knowing the next number that should be used without having to view the decision log. Additionally, as people are adding decisions at the same time we want to avoid duplication of numbers (so if two people see the next number should be 30, we don't end up with two decisions numbered 30). Is is possible in Confluence to have numbered decisions, and when a new decision is created the next number is automatically populated or created? This way decisions can be made anywhere in the site at any time, but the number remains unique to the decision being made and can be shown on the decision log.

I don't have answer for this but we need the same functionality.  As a work around we have been using the page ID generated by confluence and copying/pasting that into an "ID" field we created.  At least the number is then unique.
