Hi,
is it possible to customize the ranking of search results in Confluence, e. g. to change the Weighting of Content Types?
Best regards,
S. Waldschmidt
Unfortunately there is no such possibility in Confluence administration. A similar feature request is still open: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-15619
You have to write a plugin that provides a lucene-boosting-strategy module: https://developer.atlassian.com/display/CONFDEV/Lucene+Boosting+Strategy+Module
There is a feature request for adjusting search ranking: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-15619 You may want to add a comment there.

Even though this is an ancient discussion, it looks like it still hasn't been implemented, so I'll post my comment here.
When i enter something into the search field, the popup search options/results includes an "Advanced search" option. Under the "Advanced search", there's a "Content Type" option. Any possibility of adding additional content types? Eg., "Help pages", "FAQ pages", "Standards & Policies pages", etc

By using an external search appliance integrated (indexing your Confluence data), you can get finer control on your weighting and search content algorithms.
The way I look at it, Confluence is a wiki and really good at that. Really really good.
Atlassian does not also try to be a Search Appliance corp - to which there are numerous whole companies dedicated to that problem in and of itself.
AppFusions has worked on a few solutions in this area - contact us at info[at]appfusions[dot]com for more info, if interested.
