Custom formatting of Jira issues in Confluence

Robin Silander February 24, 2021

We currently use the standard Jira macro for displaying selected issue fields for stakeholder and exec reporting but the limitations of the macro really restrict how we present the information.

Is there anything we can do to customise how we present this information beyond the standard 1-issue-per-row table that the macro gives you?

I'm aware of the various options for generating charts from date but we are looking for a solution for textual content such as "Next Steps" or "Path to Green" for issues that are blocking our programs.

Many Thanks

Hi @Robin Silander ,

Check if you have the Table Filter and Charts for Confluence app installed for your instance.

If you use, for example, Pivot Table and Table Transformer macros along with the Jira Issues macro, you'll be able to aggregate your Jira data and add manually created columns with different notes and links to the result table.

Please, check this question (the second part of the thread) - there I show how to add a new column with manually created comments to the Jira Issues macro and adapt everything to different languages.

That looks great @Katerina Kovriga {Stiltsoft} , thank you.

Getting this installed today and will work through the example to see if it does what we need.

Got this working which is great - is there any way to combine multiple fields into the same output column so I could have say "status" and "assignee" within a single column rather than under 2 separate ones?

Hi Robin,

You may use the CelesteCS Reporting plug-in to create a custom table on Jira issues. Here is an article on how to create the report, similar to the one you’ve requested: Example: Creating report on Jira issues. As this plug-in uses the calculation abilities of CelesteCS Math plug-in, you may create the formulas to combine Jira issue information in the table cells or list lines in any form.

Thanks!
