I'm trying to automate the creation of release notes. I can get it to make the blank page, but I want to use a template to structure it. I don't see any templates available in the Template drop down where you create automation tasks. Can someone please tell me how to create templates and populate this field in the screenshot?
Hello!
Just figured this out - you need to change the author for the rule which has an access to space (rule details) and create a custom template in that space - than it will appear in dropdown.
Hi @Ross Morrow
While I haven't tried this thru automation I believe it can be done via API
Since it is release notes that you're trying to Automate perhaps this App might be of some use too https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1223567/automated-release-notes-for-jira-free?hosting=cloud&tab=overview

Hey @Jehan Bhathena , thank you for the shout out.
@Ross Morrow this is Anand from ARN (Automated release notes) team. You can definitely look at the free version. ARN even makes it possible to prepend, append content to even existing Confluence pages. If you need any assistance, our team would be happy to help out.
Best,
Anand

@Ross Morrow I don't have access to automation, but I have noticed in Confluence that sometime you need to start typing something in a field such as this before the application shows a list of choices. If you type something that would be included in the template name (Release, maybe), does the list show choices?

Hey @Ross Morrow,
I can also reproduce the issue you're facing. The field Template should display templates from the space you selected but it doesn't.
This looks like a bug. I'd recommend you to contact the Atlassian support directly https://support.atlassian.com/contact/, so they could investigate it.

I'll log one if I can't figure it out with some of the other people's suggestions. They don't make it easy since I have to log the bug through the site admin for my company. Instead of me just being able to do it. Thanks for your suggestion.
