Correct syntax being used to restrict editable rights within a Confiform?

I have created a Confiform that contains a field with the USER field type (called “user1”). After the form has been submitted, I would like the fields within the form to only be editable by the user indicated in the “user1” field.

In the Edit Confiforms Form Field Definition Macro, I have entered both [entry.user1] and [entry.user1.fullname] in the “Editable only by groups/user” field (as shown in the attached pictures).

However with both instances, after the form has been submitted the fields are locked and uneditable by the user indicated in the “user1” field. I’m not sure what I am doing incorrectly.

What is the correct syntax and/or best approach to restrict editing to an indicated user in the user field type?
