Confluence restore after crash

Miles November 21, 2017

Ok, so here is the current situation: the computer on which my Confluence was installed is unavailable. We have access to the hard drive content.

I went to resinstal a new instance of Confluence on my laptop, and restore pages/Spaces from the old instance. Knowing that for obvious reasons the export feature is not available, how do I get my data back?

Depends on the backups you were taking if you want the (possibly easier) route.  If you were allowing it to do the nightly xml export, then you could simply import one of those into a new empty Confluence build.  Look on the recovered disk under <confluence home>/exports

You might also be able to simply copy the installation and home directories on to a new machine, and just run it.  You'd see some quirks and warnings about server names, but it should still fire up and work.
