Confluence link url disappears

I'm having an issue where I create a link in a confluence document, I specify the URL and the text to be displayed, I can open the link while still in editing mode, but as soon as I save changes the URL vanishes and only the display text remains. It still remains formatted as a link but when I try to open it, nothing happens. When I return to editing to view the link settings, the URL is gone. Has anyone else had this issue?

Hi RJAS,

Is the link to another Confluence page, or is it a web link? We have a couple known instances where links might not behave quite right:

• CONFCLOUD-65866 Ability to insert custom (non-standard) URL protocols where links must have http:// or https:// at the beginning. Trying something like slack://<link> currently doesn't work.
• CONFCLOUD-24320 Links and web images with URLs containing certain non-alphanumeric characters fail to save could be relevant if your link includes one of a few characters

If the URL you're linking to is not sensitive, I can also take a look and see if there's a reason why it's not saving as you expect.

Hi Daniel, Thanks for the reply, my link contains £ symbol and I suspect this is causing the issue. I will use a tinyurl as a workaround for the moment thanks
